Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård turned heads with an unconventional look at the screening of Wicker during the 70th BFI London Film Festival. He hit the red carpet in a gold suit and transparent shoes by Saint Laurent, which have already sparked debate in the fashion world.

What the shoes looked like

Skarsgård attended the event on October 8, 2026, wearing a metallic gold suit without a shirt. He completed the look with transparent vinyl lace-up shoes from Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer 2027 menswear collection. The actor also went sockless, making the unusual footwear stand out even more.

The transparent shoes were previously unveiled by Saint Laurent creative director Anthony Vaccarello. The design caught attention during the brand’s collection presentation and became one of the season’s most talked-about fashion experiments.

Skarsgård’s gold suit also echoed the aesthetic of his new film Wicker, in which he plays a man made of wicker.

In the story, a lonely fisherwoman, played by Olivia Colman, orders herself a husband. A master basket maker, played by Peter Dinklage, literally weaves him from natural materials.

Directed by Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson, the film blends fantasy, romantic comedy, and an unconventional fairy tale about love.

This is not the first time Skarsgård has opted for provocative fashion choices at public appearances. His style is known for bold silhouettes and unconventional combinations that often become a talking point in their own right.

This time, the gold suit and transparent shoes turned his red-carpet appearance into one of the festival’s most eye-catching fashion moments.
