Democratic Congressman Al Green has promised to file articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump. He believes that Trump "does not deserve" the position of president, The Hill reports.

On Saturday, April 5, during a speech at a rally in Washington, Democratic Congressman Al Green stated that Trump does not "deserve" to hold the position of head of the executive branch.

"We need a Senate that will convict him this time, and I want you to know, from my heart, from my heart, I understand that he is a Goliath. He is a Goliath. He has control of the generals in the military. He has control of the Justice Department. He has control of the Republican Party, but my friends, my friends, for every Goliath, there is a David,” said Green, addressing demonstrators at the “Hands Off!" rally in the District of Columbia.

He also added that within a month, he would file articles of impeachment against US President Donald Trump.

"And I want you to know, Mr. President, this David is going to bring articles of impeachment against you within the next 30 days. Within the next 30 days, I’m bringing articles of impeachment. I’m coming for you. Mr. President, this David is coming for you," the congressman declared.

Green, who had promised about two months ago to initiate impeachment proceedings against Trump, claims that Trump does not “deserve the office” he holds.

“You can’t be entrusted with liberty and justice for all. You can’t be entrusted with government of the people by the people for the people. I’m coming for you. I’m your David. God bless you,” Green added.

White House reaction

Deputy Press Secretary of the White House Liz Huston, in a comment to The Hill, noted that Trump’s position is "clear": he will always defend Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid for those entitled to them.

"Meanwhile, the Democrats’ stance is giving Social Security, Medicaid, and Medicare benefits to illegal aliens, which will bankrupt these programs and crush American seniors," Huston stated.

Let us add that on February 5, during a speech in the House of Representatives, Green announced that he would file for Trump’s impeachment after the head of the White House suggested that the US should take control of the Gaza Strip.

"Injustice in Gaza is a threat to justice in the United States of America," Green said at the time.

On Saturday, April 5, he repeated a similar message, stating that the war-torn territory “is not going to become a resort. There must be a home for the Palestinian people.”

Trump’s Speech in Congress and Green’s reaction

Democratic Congressman Al Green was the initiator of several unsuccessful impeachment attempts during Trump’s first presidential term.

On March 4, 2025, US President Donald Trump delivered an address to Congress. During the address, the head of the White House touched on topics such as the Panama Canal, establishing control over Greenland, and the Russian-Ukrainian war.

At the beginning of the president’s speech, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson ordered security to remove Green from the chamber as he was loudly expressing indignation at the president’s opening remarks.

On Saturday, April 5, numerous protests against the Trump administration’s policies took place across almost the entire territory of the United States. People also held rallies in European countries.
