Airports shut down near Moscow after drone attack

Russia’s Ministry of Defense claimed to have repelled a drone attack over Russian regions. Overnight, airports near Moscow were closed for arrivals and departures, according to the Russian state news agency TASS.
According to Rosaviatsia, restrictions were introduced at the airports of Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Kaluga. Only in the morning, around 7 a.m., were these restrictions lifted.
Russia’s Ministry of Defense also reported that air defense forces had allegedly shot down 61 drones. The ministry did not specify how many drones were launched in total or how many reached their targets.
Drone attack on Russia
Recall that overnight drones attacked Russia’s Tula region. Explosions were heard in Novomoskovsk, followed by a fire at the chemical plant Azot.
Later, the governor of Tula region, Dmitry Milyayev, confirmed the drone attack on the Azot plant but stated that the fire had been extinguished. Two people were reportedly injured as a result of the fire.
This is the second drone attack on the Russian Azot plant in two weeks. The plant produces chemical substances that can be used for military purposes.
