Attack on Ukraine on July 9

On the night of July 9, Russia conducted a large-scale air attack on Ukraine, using Shahed attack drones, cruise missiles, and hypersonic Kinzhal missiles. The main target of the attack was Lutsk, where fires broke out and destruction was reported.

According to the Air Force, the enemy fired a total of 728 drones and 13 missiles, which was a new record for the number of aircraft used. Most of the Shahed drones were destroyed by air defense. The enemy also struck other western regions, the Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv regions.

In Lutsk, fires broke out in warehouses and a garage cooperative; firefighters extinguished the fire, and no one was injured. The head of the Volyn Regional Military Administration, Ivan Rudnytskyi, confirmed about 50 drones and five missiles over the region. A person died in the Khmelnytskyi district due to the debris of a Shahed.

In the Zhytomyr region, industrial and residential buildings were damaged, and two fires were localized. In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, air defense avoided casualties and serious damage.

In the Kyiv region, two people, a woman and a man, were hospitalized as a result of the attack. A fire broke out at an enterprise in Brovary and was extinguished.

Poland has raised its fighter jets and strengthened its air defense amid the attack on Ukraine.
