Air Force explains Russian tactics in drone attacks on Ukraine
Russian drone attack on Ukraine are being used to keep Ukrainians alarmed constantly. At the same time, each launched UAV carries out its mission regardless of the number of drones launched during each attack, according to Colonel Yurii Ihnat, the spokesman for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"The enemy primarily launches Shahed drones at night. Essentially, it's to keep the country on edge, for the air raid alarms to be declared, and, of course, to perform other tasks assigned to UAVs. It's not just that they launched it and that's it. Each UAV goes to its target, the one it wants to hit, the task it has been given. That's how they have been working for quite a long time," he explained.
Ihnat noted that the terror against the Ukrainian people continues and provided the following examples.
"They launch Shaheds in groups of three, five, or ten. By the end of the year, they were approaching a hundred, 87 UAVs were shot down. The same goes for cruise missiles. The quantity also reached close to 100. Overall, the night of December 29 set a record for air attack assets," added the representative of the Air Force.
Shelling of Ukraine on December 29
Russia massively attacked Ukraine before the New Year. As a result of the attacks, homes were on fire in four major cities in Ukraine. There were 22 explosions in Kharkiv alone. Many were also affected in Kyiv. As of the morning of January 4, 32 people have been reported dead due to the shelling of Kyiv on December 29, with another 30 injured.
Occupiers once again attacked the south of Ukraine with Shahed kamikaze drones on December 29. As a result of the shelling, there were hits on infrastructure in the Odesa region, and a residential building in Odesa was damaged by the debris of a downed drone. In total, Russia released 22 Shaheds, 18 of which were shot down.
