Air defense shoots down half of Russian drones in nighttime attack on Ukraine
Russian forces attacked Ukraine with drones on the night of December 7. Air defense shot down half of the drones launched by the occupiers, according to the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"On the night of December 7, the enemy launched a strike with an unidentified missile type on Sumy region, attacked with 14 Shahed strike UAVs, and drones of other types," the message says.
They were launched by the Russians from Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russia).
Air defense response
As of 08:30, Ukraine’s air defense units, including anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare troops, and mobile fire groups from the Air Forces and Defense Forces, successfully shot down seven enemy drones across Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Odesa, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr regions.
Additionally, six drones were lost in specific locations, while another exited Ukraine’s controlled airspace in the direction of Russia.
Ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine
Russian forces began targeting Ukraine with drones after midnight. Air alerts were declared in Kyiv, and air defense forces in Kyiv region were actively engaged.
Later, after 6:00, warnings about a ballistic threat were issued across Ukraine. Amid this, explosions were heard in Konotop. The regional military administration (OVA) reported that Russian forces carried out a missile strike targeting infrastructure in the Konotop community.
