Early in the morning, Russian Armed Forces launched a combined missile and drone attack on Kyiv — the first in the past 73 days, according to Kyiv City Military Administration.

The attack began around 6:30 AM Kyiv time when an air raid alert was declared in the capital due to the threat of drone strikes from the east. At that time, cruise missiles were already heading toward the Kyiv region.

While the missiles were approaching Kyiv, the enemy simultaneously launched a ballistic strike, culminating with an attack by Shahed/Geran-type drones.

The attack lasted over two hours, during which defense forces destroyed several cruise and ballistic missiles as well as about a dozen drones. According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the exact number of intercepted targets and the types of weapons used will be disclosed in official reports.

So far, there is no information on casualties or damage in Kyiv.

However, the head of Kyiv’s city military administration, Serhii Popko, urged the capital’s residents to remain alert to air raid signals, as an air alert is still active in Kyiv region due to the threat of further drone attacks.

Russia’s combined attack on Ukraine

During the night and into the morning, Russian occupying forces carried out another air attack on Ukraine using missiles, kamikaze drones, and aerial bombs.

That same night, six Tu-95MS strategic bombers, capable of carrying missile armaments, were reportedly observed taking off in Russia.

Due to the Shahed drone attack, air defense operations were intensified in the Kyiv region. A large-scale air raid alert was declared across Ukraine this morning.
