Air Defense Forces shot down 8 aerial targets at night over Kyiv
Russian forces attempted to attack Kyiv with airborne targets following a ballistic trajectory early in the morning on December 11, 2023. The Ukrainian Air Defense successfully intercepted and shot down eight airborne targets heading towards the capital, according to the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"According to preliminary information, around 4:00 on December 11, 2023, Russian occupiers launched a missile strike on the Kyiv region. In total, the air defense system destroyed eight airborne targets flying towards the capital on a ballistic trajectory," as stated in the communication from the Air Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Night attack on Kyiv on December 11
On the night of December 11, explosions were reported in Kyiv, followed by the sounding of air raid sirens. Residents of the capital heard at least 10 explosions.
Soon after, the Civilian Defense Warning System (CDWS) reported that air defense forces were active in Kyiv. In the Darnytskyi district, the windows of a residential building were shattered, and preliminary information indicates that a child and two adults were injured by glass fragments.
As a result of the attack, missile debris damaged an unfinished building, but a fire in it was quickly extinguished. There were also reports of smoke on the roof of a multi-story building in the Holosiivskyi district, but this information was not confirmed.
