The United States has placed all of its military bases on heightened alert amid its operation against Iran, according to ABC News.

A US official said that all American military bases are currently operating under Force Protection Condition Bravo. This level indicates an increased or more predictable threat of terrorist activity, though there is no specific intelligence about the time or location of a potential attack.

Bravo is the second-highest alert level. Above it are Charlie (when there is specific intelligence that an attack is likely or being prepared) and Delta (when an attack has occurred or is imminent).

In practice, implementing Bravo status typically includes:

  • reinforced security at entry checkpoints and around base perimeters;

  • stricter inspections of documents and vehicles;

  • restricted access for civilians;

  • increased patrols and standby units;

  • possible temporary movement restrictions for personnel and visitors.

US operation against Iran

On the evening of February 28, 2026, the US administration officially announced the launch of a large-scale military campaign against Iran, dubbed Operation Epic Fury.

According to the White House, the stated objective is to protect Americans and allies by neutralizing threats from the Iranian regime, including its nuclear and missile programs, as well as its support for armed proxy groups.

In response, Iran launched a series of strikes on US military bases in the Middle East. Iranian missiles and drones targeted two bases in Iraq and Jordan, where German soldiers are also stationed.
