7 houseplants that require easy care
Caring for plants varies depending on their type. Although it may seem simple, sometimes significant effort is required, as some plants need consistently high temperatures, humidity, and bright sunlight. At the same time, some plants are indeed low-maintenance and are perfect for beginners.
Real Simple provides advice on which plants beginners should choose.
Bromeliad
If you want to add bright colors to your space, experts recommend considering the flowering bromeliad.
More resilient than many other flowering plants, the bromeliad can withstand irregular watering. This makes it an excellent choice for beginners who are getting accustomed to a plant care schedule.

Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily)
Known for its bright foliage and beautiful white flowers, the peace lily prefers a generous amount of water at one time on an infrequent schedule.
If you fall behind on watering, its long leaves may droop, but experts say the plant is surprisingly forgiving with a good watering.

The peace lily is also an excellent choice for beginners because it is a versatile plant that easily adapts to conditions with bright indirect light or low light.
Pothos
This plant combines the best qualities for a beginner grower. Pothos, also known as devil's ivy, is incredibly resilient.
This low-maintenance plant can tolerate both plenty of bright sunlight and low light conditions (though it is best to keep it away from direct bright sunlight).

Additionally, pothos can handle infrequent watering. It is better to let the soil dry out completely before watering again.
Monstera
Known for its large, tropical-looking leaves, monstera is not afraid of common plant issues and thrives in most home conditions. When monstera is healthy, you'll see more of its signature holes and splits in the leaves.
Moderate light and infrequent watering are all this plant needs. Besides, monstera is easy to propagate in water using cuttings.

Monstera Minima
Named for its resemblance to monstera leaves, this plant belongs to a different species. However, experts say it is just as easy to care for.
This plant is great for beginners due to its flexibility with lighting conditions. A bright room in your home is all it needs.

Although the tropical mini monstera prefers higher humidity, it will do well indoors if kept away from vents and drafts.
Chinese Evergreen
Under the right lighting conditions - Chinese evergreen prefers medium to bright light - this classic houseplant can grow leaves in a variety of beautiful colors, including red, peach, and pink.
Moreover, they are not afraid of drying out - they just need to be watered every few weeks when the soil becomes dry.

Sansevieria (Snake Plant)
Forgetful (or busy) beginners will appreciate that this variegated plant doesn't require much attention. Being a type of succulent, they don't need to be watered frequently.
The soil should be moistened when the top few centimetres become dry and crumbly.
