17 bombs, drones and rocket artillery: Russian forces devastate Kharkiv region community

Russian forces launched a massive attack on the Velykoburlutska community in the Kharkiv region, firing 17 aerial bombs and three drones and using rocket artillery, the head of the Velykyi Burluk settlement community, Viktor Tereshchenko, stated.
According to him, the overnight shelling on September 22 was one of the largest attacks in recent years. The strikes continued nonstop from evening until morning.
The attacks damaged residential buildings and power grids and completely destroyed the local TV tower. Specialists had managed to restore electricity only the day before the attack after the community had been without power for six days. Now, however, the entire community is without electricity again.
Humanitarian situation and daily strikes
Velykyi Burluk currently has no mobile service or internet, while gas supplies have been unavailable for several years. ATMs and Nova Poshta branches have stopped operating in the settlement. The only infrastructure still functioning consists of medical services and one pharmacy.
"FPV drones hover over Burluk 20 to 30 at a time every day. They are wiping out entire streets. Six guided aerial bombs hit Dорошенка Street — bones were scattered across the cemetery and graves were turned upside down," the community head said.
Russian forces are effectively destroying the settlement street by street, using guided aerial bombs and drones. Constant danger makes it impossible to carry out any restoration work.
The settlement of Velykyi Burluk is located 20 kilometers from the state border with Russia. The intensity of Russian attacks there has increased significantly over the past several months.
Despite the constant attacks, as of September 2026, around 900 residents remain in the settlement, while more than 2,700 people live across the community as a whole. All children from Velykyi Burluk had previously been evacuated.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine during the night of September 22, using missiles and drones. Ukraine's air defense forces destroyed and suppressed 186 aerial targets.
The Brovary district of the Kyiv region also came under attack that night. The strikes caused fires in warehouse and utility buildings and damaged private homes and vehicles.
