$25 million pink diamond stolen in Dubai by luxury car gang

In Dubai, police foiled a daring robbery in which an exceptionally rare pink diamond worth $25 million was stolen, reports CNN.
The thieves posed as intermediaries for a potential buyer and managed to steal the gemstone from a jeweler.
According to law enforcement, the 21.25-carat diamond is distinguished by exceptional clarity, symmetry, and polish, as well as a unique level of purity, making it a highly desirable target for the gang, which had been planning the heist for over a year.
The gang carefully tracked the diamond’s arrival from Europe to Dubai and devised a complex heist plan. The criminals rented luxury cars, held meetings in high-end hotels, and even hired an expert to verify the stone’s authenticity. Posing as acquaintances of a buyer, they lured the jeweler to a villa, stole the diamond, and attempted to flee.
However, local police quickly tracked down three suspects, arrested them, and recovered the diamond before it could be smuggled out of Dubai.
The jeweler, whose stone was stolen, praised the authorities’ rapid response and urged other participants in the diamond trade to follow official security protocols.
In recent years, Dubai has become one of the world’s major diamond trading hubs due to minimal tax requirements and its strategic location between African producer countries and major markets such as India.
For reference, Seattle police reported a daring jewelry store robbery in West Seattle at noon on August 15, which lasted about 90 seconds.
According to the police, four masked thieves smashed the store’s glass doors with hammers and ransacked six display cases. One contained Rolex watches valued at around $750,000, and another held an emerald necklace worth $125,000.
