Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of September 23

As of 10:00 PM local time on Tuesday, September 23, Ukrainian forces reported 140 combat clashes across the front line, with 39 of them concentrated in the Pokrovsk sector, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
Russian strikes
Over the past day, Russian forces carried out one missile strike and 31 airstrikes, launching two missiles and dropping 55 guided bombs. In addition, they deployed 1,925 attack drones and conducted 3,176 strikes on Ukrainian settlements and defense positions.
Frontlines update
In the North Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian units repelled seven Russian assaults. Russian forces conducted five airstrikes using 14 guided bombs and carried out 104 strikes, including two from multiple launch rocket systems.
In the South Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian troops attempted to storm positions near Vovchansk, Odradne, and Zapadne. Ukrainian defenders repelled nine attacks, while two battles are still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, three Russian assaults were repelled near Kupiansk and Petropavlivka, with one clash still underway.
In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped ten attacks near Kolodyazi, Novoselivka, Torske, and Shandryholove. Six engagements are continuing.
In the Siversk direction, Russian attempts to advance near Yampil were repelled.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian troops blocked three Russian assaults near Kostiantynivka.
In the Toretsk direction, 24 attempts to storm Ukrainian positions were recorded near Oleksandro-Shultyne, Shcherbynivka, Kleban-Byk, Rusyn Yar, Yablunivka, and Poltavka. Ukrainian forces repelled 22 of them, while two battles continue.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces launched 39 attacks, attempting to advance near Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Novyi Shakhtarskyi, Zolote Kolodiaz, Novoekonomichne, Myroliubivka, Rodynske, Mykolaivka, Promin, Lysivka, Zvirove, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Dachne, as well as toward Novoukrainka and Filiia. Two engagements remain ongoing. Preliminary reports indicate that 105 Russian soldiers were killed in this sector, while 67 were wounded. Ukrainian troops also destroyed one tank, 31 drones, nine vehicles, and damaged four artillery systems and two more vehicles.
In the Novopavlivka direction, 21 Russian assaults were repelled near Piddubne, Sichneve, Komyshuvakha, Novomykolaivka, and Novoivanivka. Six engagements are still underway.
In the Orikhiv and Prydniprovskyi directions, no Russian offensive actions were reported.
In the Huliaipole direction, Ukrainian forces repelled five assaults near Poltavka. One Russian attempt to advance failed, while four engagements continue.
Russian losses
According to Ukraine’s General Staff, total Russian losses since the start of the full-scale invasion are estimated at 1,103,580 personnel.
In the past 24 hours alone, Russian forces lost about 1,010 soldiers. Ukrainian troops also destroyed five tanks, 53 artillery systems, two multiple launch rocket systems, 485 drones, and other equipment.
