Russia-Ukraine war: Frontline update as of August 26

As of 10:00 PM Kyiv time, on August 26, there had been 130 combat clashes along the frontline, with the heaviest fighting in the Pokrovsk and Lyman directions, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russian strikes
According to the General Staff, Russia launched two missile strikes and 40 airstrikes, used two missiles, and dropped 57 guided bombs. In addition, Russian forces deployed 1,708 Shahed drones and carried out 2,947 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas.
Frontline updates
In the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk directions, Ukrainian forces repelled six assaults, while another six were still underway. The enemy also carried out three airstrikes with five guided bombs and launched 170 attacks, including one strike from multiple rocket launchers.
In the Southern Slobozhanskyi direction, Russian troops attacked Ukrainian positions four times near Hlyboke, Vovchansk, Krasne Pershe and towards Doroshivka, but were repelled.
In the Kupiansk direction, Russian forces carried out five unsuccessful assaults in an attempt to break through Ukrainian defenses near Kupiansk and Nova Kruhliakivka.
In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked 27 times since the beginning of the day near Novomykhailivka, Karpivka, Kolodiazi, Myrne and Torske, as well as towards Shandryholove, Stavky, Dronivka and Serebrianka. At the time of reporting, Ukrainian defenders were repelling nine assaults.
In the Siversk direction, the enemy attempted six assaults near Hryhorivka and towards Serebrianka, Vyiimka and Fedorivka.
In the Kramatorsk direction, four combat clashes were recorded, as Russian units tried to advance toward Stupochky.
In the Toretsk direction, Russian forces launched eight assaults near Toretsk, Oleksandro-Kalynove and towards Berestok, Stepanivka and Poltavka. One battle was still ongoing.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian troops attempted 30 assaults to break through Ukrainian defenses near Nykanorivka, Novoeconomichne, Myroliubivka, Promin, Lysivka, Kotlyne, Udachne and Novoukrainka, as well as towards Volodymyrivka, Rubizhne, Bilytske, Rodynske, Pokrovsk and Novopavlivka. Ukrainian forces reported inflicting significant losses, eliminating 107 Russian soldiers (67 killed) and destroying three vehicles, one artillery system, 16 drones, one electronic warfare system, three UAV command posts and three shelters. Several other enemy assets, including artillery and special equipment, were damaged.
In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian units stopped 10 Russian assaults near Zelenyi Hai, Shevchenko, Voskresenka, Komyshuvakha and Novoheorhiivka, as well as towards Filiia, Iskra and Oleksandrohrad. Six combat clashes were still ongoing at the time of reporting.
In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, no clashes were recorded.
In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops carried out two unsuccessful assaults, suffered losses and retreated.
Russian losses
Between August 25 and 26, Russian forces lost 890 soldiers on the frontline. The Ukrainian military also destroyed 33 artillery systems, 95 drones and 97 vehicles. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russian army losses have reached nearly 1.1 million personnel.
