Explosions reported in Russia’s Lipetsk and Nizhny Novgorod regions as air defenses activate

        Explosions were heard in the skies over Lipetsk and Nizhny Novgorod, as residents reported the operation of air defense systems, according to Russian media.
Explosions in Lipetsk
Around midnight, a "red level" drone attack alert was declared in Lipetsk.
Residents reported hearing loud explosions in the sky above the city and witnessing the operation of air defense systems.
Air raid sirens were heard across the city.
Unknown drones over Nizhny Novgorod
Around the same time, Telegram channels in Nizhny Novgorod reported a "drone threat."
Soon after, information emerged about an unidentified drone being shot down over the city.
There has been no official statement from local authorities.
Residents reported flashes in the sky and loud noises that “made windows shake in their apartments.”
Meanwhile, Strigino Airport activated the Cover security protocol and temporarily suspended departures and arrivals.
Explosions were also reported in the nearby city of Kstovo, where witnesses described seeing a red glow in the sky after the blasts.
It was also reported that airports in Volgograd, Tambov, Penza, Saratov, and Samara were temporarily shut down.
Blackouts in Russian cities
On the evening of November 3, power outages were recorded in several Russian cities.
In the city of Frolovo, Volgograd region, a fire broke out at a local power substation after unidentified drones allegedly struck the facility.
Regional governor Andrey Bocharov confirmed that debris from a downed UAV caused a fire at the Frolovskaya substation.
Power outages were also reported in parts of the Kursk region. Governor Alexander Khinshtein said on Telegram that over 16,000 consumers in the Rylsk, Glushkov, and Korenovsky districts lost electricity due to damage at the Rylsk substation.
