The leaders had already spoken by phone and congratulated each other on the signing of the agreement to release all hostages.
According to the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office, Netanyahu thanked President Trump for his efforts and global leadership, while Trump praised Netanyahu for his decisive leadership and actions.
The two heads of state also agreed to continue close cooperation, and the Prime Minister invited President Trump to address the Knesset, Israel’s parliament.
Hamas-Israel peace deal
Last week, it was revealed that the United States had developed a new 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
The plan envisions the release of all Israeli hostages by Hamas in exchange for the gradual withdrawal of IDF troops from the enclave.
Since October 6, indirect negotiations between the sides have been taking place in Egypt, mediated by representatives from Egypt, the US, and Qatar.
On October 8, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had signed the first phase of the US peace plan, and also announced an upcoming visit to the Middle East, including Egypt.
