Russian forces are gathering personnel at frontline positions in preparation for assault operations toward Orikhiv, said the spokesperson for the Southern Defense Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn.

He stated that another section of the line of contact is located near the settlements of Mali Shcherbaky, Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, and Mala Tokmachka.

"There, according to our intelligence, the enemy is trying to assemble a certain number of personnel at forward positions to launch assault operations toward Orikhiv in the near future," Voloshyn said.

He added that Ukrainian intelligence reported that the enemy had received orders to advance further into Ukraine’s defenses and reach the outskirts of Orikhiv. As a result, the Defense Forces expect the situation there to escalate in the coming days.

"In addition, according to our intelligence, the enemy is gathering and concentrating personnel in the settlement of Bilohiria. This settlement is located between Huliaipole and Orikhiv. From this, we can conclude that the enemy will also attempt assault operations along this section of the front," the Southern Defense Forces spokesperson said.

Voloshyn added that the Russian forces are actively shelling and striking settlements located near the line of contact.

"This includes settlements such as Orikhiv, Komyshuvakha, and Verkhnia Tersa. Over the past 24 hours, we have recorded around two dozen strikes and shellings on these settlements. Civilians are also suffering from enemy attacks," he said.

Voloshyn previously reported that the Russian troops are attacking Ukrainian positions on the outskirts of Huliaipole from the north, south, and west. According to him, Russian forces have been unable to deploy their consolidation groups, and fighting between assault groups continues within the city itself.
