Musk doesn’t understand USAID’s significance to US, expert says

American businessman Elon Musk may not understand the significance of the USAID program for the United States, stated historian and diplomat Roman Bezsmertnyi in a comment to RBC-Ukraine's YouTube channel.
"CIA Director John Ratcliffe has not yet briefed Trump. Once this meeting takes place, I believe Musk's lack of knowledge and Donald Trump's emotions on this issue will subside. This is already evident from Marco Rubio's statement that from now on, the management of USAID will be under his control," Bezsmertnyi noted.
He believes that during the program review, certain discrepancies were identified, and therefore it was decided to transfer the USAID inspection to the US State Department.
"Therefore, regarding the current discussions around USAID, Musk fundamentally does not understand its significance for the US. As for Donald Trump, it seems to me that his relationships with CIA Director John Ratcliffe and other individuals currently nominated for intelligence roles will help him form an objective understanding of what USAID is. Because, based on what Musk, Trump, and some others are saying, they don’t even realize the burden USAID carries," Bezsmertnyi emphasized.

Recently, US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of all foreign aid programs for 90 days. They are to be reviewed for compliance with his foreign policy.
It is also known that the USAID branch in Ukraine has also suspended its projects and funding.
