A full-scale war with Iran is inevitable and could erupt immediately after the US election cycle ends. For Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who wants to go down in history, it would mark the culmination and final chapter of his political career, military analyst Sergey Auslender said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
War with Iran is inevitable
Commenting on the security situation in the Middle East amid political developments in Israel, Auslender expressed firm confidence that a direct military confrontation with Tehran could no longer be avoided.
"War with Iran is inevitable, in my view, and it will happen," the analyst said in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
He believes the process will ramp up immediately after the US elections, which are scheduled to take place next week.
The main goal is to overthrow the Iranian regime
According to the expert, Benjamin Netanyahu sees the confrontation with Iran as a key strategic objective, one that could eliminate numerous security threats facing Israel.
"For now, Netanyahu considers his main task to be finishing off Iran — bringing down the Iranian regime, which would solve a host of security problems," Auslender emphasized.
A historical legacy in his final term
Netanyahu’s age and political standing are important motivating factors for the prime minister. At 77, he is effectively approaching the final stage of his political career.
That is why, according to the analyst, Netanyahu wants to use this time to secure his place in world history as the leader who defeated the Iranian threat.
"He’s already very old. At 77, this is effectively his last term. That’s why he wants to go down in history during his final term as the man who defeated Iran," Sergey Auslender concluded.
