Expert analyzes whether Russians are planning a major offensive to capture Zaporizhzhia
The Russian army has become more active in the Zaporizhzhia sector. But there will be no large-scale offensive to capture Zaporizhzhia, according to the RBC-Ukraine article “Vuhledar and Pokrovsk under onslaught and Russia's goals before the cold: Frontline overview.”
It became known recently that the Russians might intensify their activities in another area. According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Defense Forces of southern Ukraine, Russia is massing personnel and preparing for assaults in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
“They may move forward, but in separate locations. In the area of the Robotyne ledge, at the Huliaipole or Vremivka directions. But there will not be any large-scale offensive, for example, to capture Zaporizhzhia,” said Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer at the Information Resistance Group.
The Russian army is currently moving forward along the entire front in Ukraine. Because the command realizes that once the weather conditions change, it will be difficult to advance.
Situation in Zaporizhzhia
Last week, the Russian army launched attacks on Zaporizhzhia with guided aerial bombs. According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces, the Russians have made some changes to the modification of guided aerial bombs. Now they can reach the center of Zaporizhzhia.
Voloshyn also said that Russian troops were preparing for assault operations in the Zaporizhzhia sector. Intelligence and the military are aware of the Russians' plans to attack, and preparations are underway in the area of Pryiutne. This means that the situation may escalate in the Zaporizhzhia sector soon. According to Voloshyn, Russian troops are actively deploying equipment and personnel to the Zaporizhzhia sector.
