US and Europe preparing peace plan for Ukraine: 4 key points
US and European officials are discussing a four-part framework covering reconstruction, security, energy, and territory to end Russia's war against Ukraine.
US and European officials are developing a joint plan aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine. The framework was discussed during a six-hour meeting in Florida led by US envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, with Ukrainian, British, French, and German representatives attending.
Its four components are Ukraine’s reconstruction, military security guarantees against a renewed Russian attack, an energy agreement and a ceasefire along the current front line. The proposal could include World Bank and BlackRock-backed reconstruction arrangements, while one energy option envisions a Russian oil and gas pipeline to Europe with Ukraine and Russia sharing profits. A central challenge is defining the proposed “line of control,” as the front line continues to shift.
