Russian oil refinery erupts in flames after drone attack in Samara region
A drone attack on October 30 set fire to the Novokuibyshevsk refinery, a Rosneft plant that produces jet fuel for Russian military aircraft.
Drones struck Novokuibyshevsk in Russia’s Samara region overnight on October 30, causing a fire at the city’s oil refinery. Residents reported explosions and air-defense activity before authorities issued a drone warning at about 6 a.m., while Samara Airport was temporarily closed. Eyewitness images geolocated by an ASTRA analyst showed the refinery ablaze, as residents continued to report drones over the city. Rosneft has owned the facility since 2007, and it processes about 8.8 million metric tons of oil a year. The refinery produces more than 20 petroleum products, including jet fuel used by Russian military aircraft.
