Co-founder and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, visited the White House on Thursday. He discussed technological leadership, particularly its protection and promotion outside of the US, reports the Associated Press.
Meta's spokesperson Andy Stone shared details about the visit on social media platform X, clarifying what Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg discussed at the White House.
"To discuss how Meta can help the administration defend and advance American tech leadership abroad," the message stated.
AP, on its part, reminded that Zuckerberg recently tried to gain Trump's favor. Specifically, last month, his company paid $25 million to settle a lawsuit filed by current US President Donald Trump, who claimed his social media accounts were unfairly blocked after the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack. Moreover, Zuckerberg was present at Trump's inauguration and was one of the organizers of the inaugural reception.
The outlet also pointed out that Meta is making multimillion-dollar investments in the development of artificial intelligence, with Zuckerberg stating that his company is in a position to establish productive relations with the US government.
Additionally, a month ago, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted a video message where he apologized for censorship on Facebook and announced plans to expand freedom of speech on platforms with support from the Trump administration.
