The conflict between Israel and Iran in the Middle East distracts the attention of the international community from the war in Ukraine, which could lead to a greater number of victims, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in an interview with Sky News.

"It is a big problem. Yes. The political focus is changing (due to the conflict in the Middle East – ed.) and that is absolutely understandable. And this means that aid from partners, above all from the United States, may be reduced. And we wouldn’t want that. But we do feel it. We understand it," noted Zelenskyy.

According to him, the priority must remain on human lives, rather than focusing solely on one conflict or another. Because without a doubt, there should be a minimum of conflicts in the world.

"Any war has to end. Because people of various religions, of various ethnicities and nationalities dyie. Any war should end. It's a great pity. And the Russians will feel their advantage on the battlefield and it will be difficult for us," added the President of Ukraine.

Consequences of the conflict between Israel and Iran for Ukraine

Zelenskyy stated that the new wave of conflict between Iran and Israel creates additional risks for Ukraine. In particular, in the energy and security aspects.

According to him, the consequences of the Israeli strikes on Iran are already being felt: oil prices have gone up, and this benefits Russia. If a cap on the export price is not introduced, the Russian Federation will receive additional superprofits, which may be directed toward the war against Ukraine.

In Zelenskyy’s opinion, it will also be important to analyze the consequences of the Israeli strikes on Iran’s military industry. If factories that produce "Shaheds" and missiles have indeed been struck, this will directly affect Iran’s ability to supply weapons to Russia.
