Zelenskyy says Ukraine strikes Russia with its own weapons without US approval

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the Armed Forces are hitting targets inside Russia using weapons produced by Ukrainian factories. He added that Ukraine does not need approval from the US for these strikes.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine has long stopped coordinating strikes on Russian targets with the US. Kyiv relies on its own weapons, and Washington's permissions or restrictions do not influence these operations.
"Ukraine uses its own weapons for strikes on Russia. Recently, we have not discussed such matters with the US. There were once signals regarding our counterstrikes against energy infrastructure… But today, we don’t even mention that," he said, responding to questions about strikes inside Russia.
The president's comments came after US media reports suggested that the Pentagon had blocked Ukraine from using long-range missiles against Russian targets for several months.
Two sources told the Wall Street Journal that Ukraine tried at least once to deploy ATACMS against a target in Russia but was denied. The Pentagon withheld authorization as the White House was simultaneously attempting to persuade Moscow to enter peace talks.
