Ukraine currently produces 10 million drones per year and plans to double that output, says President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at celebrations marking Ukrainian Statehood Day in Kyiv.

The president recalled that when he first announced the goal of producing 1 million drones per year, many people were skeptical.

"I remember the first time I publicly announced the state's plan: 1 million drones a year. There was a lot of skepticism everywhere, both inside the country and abroad. But now we can state this: we produce 10 million drones a year. Ten million, and it will be 20 million," Zelenskyy said.

The head of state assured that Ukraine would achieve this goal together with its partners.

Ukraine could produce 20 million drones and missiles per year

In June, during the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session, Ukraine's Deputy Defense Minister Mstyslav Banik spoke about the significant potential of Ukraine's defense industry and called on partners to increase funding and support for key military programs.

He said Ukraine's defense industry could eventually produce up to 20 million drones annually, as well as thousands of missiles of various types, including those for deep strikes and air defense systems.

A single Ukrainian company, General Cherry, produces more than 100,000 drones per month.
