Zelenskyy rebukes West for delaying aid: Sky is not protected by rhetoric
Over the past week, the Russians have used 130 Shaheds, more than 80 Russian missiles and nearly 700 guided bombs against Ukraine. Ukraine needs real protection of lives, not rhetoric and opinions of partners, states Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Russia is using every day, every week, every month to cause significant damage. Unfortunately, assistance to Ukraine is still limited, and the Russian state still has access to critical components that are necessary for the production of missiles and drones," the head of state said.
According to Zelenskyy, each missile that attacks Ukraine contains dozens of imported components that are brought to Russia through the territory of neighboring countries. The situation is the same with Shahed attack drones
"All of this must be stopped and can be stopped: the connivance of terror, the ability of terrorists to seek allies around the world, and Russian terror itself - all its manifestations," he emphasized.
Example of the Middle East
According to the President, Iran's attack on Israel has demonstrated that modern aviation and modern air defense systems are capable of protecting lives. The world, the head of state emphasized, saw what real defense is and that it is possible.
"And the whole world saw that Israel was not alone in this defense - the threat in the sky was also destroyed by its allies. And when Ukraine tells its allies that unity provides the best defense, they already know the effectiveness of this. They know and provide it. And when Ukraine says that its allies should not turn a blind eye to Russian missiles and drones, it means that they must act, and act strongly," he continued.
Ukraine, as the President said in his address, needs the help of its partners, not their rhetoric and opinions.
"It is not rhetoric that protects the sky, it is not opinions that limit the production of missiles and drones for terror. And the fact that sanctions against Russia are still being circumvented, and the fact that we in Ukraine have been waiting for months for a vital support package - the fact that we are still waiting for a vote in Congress - shows that the terrorists' confidence has been growing for months. There is no more time to lose," he added.
Strengthening Ukraine's air defense
Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, Ukraine has been working to strengthen its air defense. However, the need for air defense has become more acute after the resumption of Russian attacks on energy facilities.
Germany has promised to help with the search for air defense, and on Saturday, April 13, it announced the transfer of an additional Patriot system to Ukraine. However, Zelenskyy has previously stated that 25 Patriot systems are needed to completely block Ukraine's skies from Russian drones and missiles.
