The mobilization of women into the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not happen, as President Zelenskyy will not sign such a law, according to his statement made at a conference.

"Women - no, I won't sign it," the president said.

President Zelenskyy also mentioned that he is ready to sign a law on the maximum conscription age for military service, reducing it to 25 years.

"If all arguments are presented, and I see that it is necessary, then I will agree with it," added the president.

Lowering the conscription age

On May 30, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law lowering the maximum age for citizens on military registration from 27 to 25 years. The law was supported by 304 deputies.

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in collaboration with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, initiated the draft law. However, President Zelenskyy has not signed this law, and it has not yet come into effect.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Oleksiy Danilov recently stated that President Zelenskyy has not yet approved the reduction of the maximum conscription age for military service to 25 years, as it is a sensitive issue.
