Zelenskyy heads to Vilnius: Planned meetings and key negotiation topics
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy is on a working visit to Lithuania. The head of state will hold a series of meetings in Vilnius, according to Zelenskyy's post on X.
"Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania are our reliable friends and principled partners. Today, I arrived in Vilnius before going to Tallinn and Riga." the President writes
According to Zelenskyy, he will hold talks with the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of the Seimas of Lithuania. Meetings with representatives of political forces, the media, and the Ukrainian community are also planned.
The main topics of the talks will be security, integration into the EU and NATO, cooperation in electronic warfare and drones, and further coordination of European support.
"But first and foremost, our gratitude. For the uncompromising support for Ukraine since 2014 and especially now, during Russia’s full-scale aggression," the President adds.
Baltic countries' position on Russia's war against Ukraine
The Baltic states - Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia - have been supporting Ukraine since the first days of the full-scale war. The Baltic states have provided military, financial, and humanitarian aid and have accepted tens of thousands of refugees from Ukraine.
As a reminder, Lithuania has purchased two NASAMS air defense systems for Ukraine, which will help strengthen our country's air defense. In November, Lithuania announced the transfer of NASAMS launchers, necessary equipment, and off-road vehicles for the crew to Ukraine.
On November 24, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said that the NASAMS transferred by Lithuania had already been put on combat duty.
