Ukraine plans to sign another agreement with the United States following the rare earth metals deal. This new agreement will concern an investment fund, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during a briefing.

"The next agreement will be more serious and complicated - it will be about a fund, and there will be some partnerships, money, etc. The next agreement will require ratification in the Ukrainian parliament, but I don’t know about the US Congress," Zelenskyy said.

The Ukrainian leader also mentioned that the rare earth metals agreement, which Ukraine and the US plan to sign, includes compensation for 50% of the revenue. In addition, Ukraine will need to handle licensing issues and conduct an audit.

"50% (of Ukraine’s revenue from the sale of rare earth resources - ed.) will go into the fund. The next agreements will clarify how the partnership could work," Zelenskyy added.

Rare earth metal agreement

Ukraine and the US are currently negotiating an agreement concerning rare earth metals.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that the agreement involves creating an investment fund, where the US will have management and economic rights.

According to preliminary information, Ukraine will be required to contribute 50% of the profits from the sale of rare earth resources, oil, and gas into the fund.

On February 25, the reports indicated that Ukraine and the US had agreed on the details of this deal.
