President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy will meet with the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, today, December 11, writes Bloomberg.
The meeting is scheduled for the same day when the IMF plans to approve a tranche of $900 million for Ukraine.
According to Bloomberg, President Zelenskyy arrived in Washington earlier in the day ahead of scheduled talks with President Joe Biden and leaders of the U.S. Congress.
IMF assistance to Ukraine
Recall that on Friday, December 8, it became known that the Board of Directors of the International Monetary Fund will consider the issue of the second review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) on December 11.
If this initiative is approved, Ukraine will receive a new $900 million tranche from the IMF.
On November 10, IMF staff and the Ukrainian government reached a staff-level agreement on the initiative.
It's worth noting that during his trip to the U.S., Zelenskyy will also meet with American officials.
