Zaluzhnyi talks with Commander of U.S. Armed Forces in Europe: Topics discussed
Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valerii Zaluzhnyi had a telephone conversation with the Supreme Allied Commander Europe and Commander of U.S. European Command, General Christopher Cavoli, according to Zaluzhnyi's post on Telegram.
During the conversation, Zaluzhnyi briefed his colleague on the situation on the front lines.
"The operational-strategic situation remains challenging but under control. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continue defensive operations, focusing on repelling enemy attacks and inflicting maximum losses in personnel and equipment," he stated.
Zaluzhnyi also discussed potential enemy actions in detail with General Cavoli, expected in the coming weeks and months.
"We specifically addressed numerous massive enemy missile strikes. Emphasized the need to strengthen our air defense system. Expressed gratitude to our American partners for their support and assistance to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression," added the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Frontline situation
Currently, Ukrainian military forces are largely in active defense and, whenever possible, conducting counterattacks. It was previously reported that Ukrainian forces reclaimed one of the territories occupied by the aggressors in the Horlivka region of the Donetsk region. However, the situation remains complex in areas like Avdiivka and Mar'inka.
Chief of the General Staff Zaluzhnyi informed that Ukrainian servicemen had withdrawn to the northern outskirts of Maryinka as the Russians completely destroyed the Ukrainian city.
