RBC-Ukraine has rounded up some of the world's most unique restaurants, where the setting itself becomes an essential part of the dining experience.

What makes this restaurant truly unique is that it is located underwater. The dining room sits about 5 meters (16 feet) below sea level.
Through its massive panoramic window, guests can watch marine life while enjoying dinner. The menu is centered on locally sourced seafood.

Alchemist (Denmark)
Alchemist in Copenhagen is a restaurant where dinner turns into a multi-hour theatrical performance. Its concept combines food with art, music, immersive light projections, theatrical performances, and thought-provoking social themes.
Guests move through several themed rooms, while the dining experience lasts four to six hours and features around 50 culinary creations. Each dish tells its own story and draws attention to a social or environmental issue, such as food waste, climate change, or ethical consumption.
In the main dining room, a massive dome transforms into a panoramic projection screen, creating a fully immersive atmosphere.
Rather than serving just a meal, Alchemist offers an artistic experience where gastronomy is only one part of a much larger emotional journey.

Dinner in the Sky
Dinner in the Sky is a unique dining concept that was launched in Belgium in 2006. Its signature feature is a table that is lifted by a specially designed crane to a height of around 50 meters (164 feet) above the ground, allowing guests to enjoy dinner high in the air.
The platform is fully equipped for a comfortable and safe dining experience, with every guest securely fastened into specially designed seats using safety harnesses.
The concept has now been introduced in more than 60 countries and is used not only for fine dining experiences but also for private celebrations, corporate events, and product launches.

Ithaa Undersea Restaurant (Maldives)
Ithaa Undersea Restaurant is one of the world's most famous and unique dining destinations. Located at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island resort, its defining feature is that the restaurant sits about 5 meters (16 feet) below the surface of the Indian Ocean, allowing guests to dine surrounded by marine life.
The name "Ithaa" means "mother of pearl" in the Maldivian language. Opened in 2005, it is widely recognized as the world's first all-glass underwater restaurant.

Modern Toilet Restaurant (Taiwan)
Modern Toilet Restaurant is one of the world's best-known themed dining venues, with an interior inspired entirely by bathrooms and toilets. The concept originated in Taiwan after the success of a café that served ice cream in miniature toilet bowls.
The restaurant's décor is deliberately unconventional: guests sit on real toilet seats instead of regular chairs, tables are designed to resemble bathroom sinks, and the walls are decorated with tiles, showerheads, and other bathroom fixtures.

Enoteca Maria (United States)
Enoteca Maria was founded in 2007 by Jody (Joe) Scaravella after the loss of his mother and grandmother. Wanting to preserve the warmth and comfort of the home-cooked meals he remembered from childhood, he created a restaurant where grandmothers, not professional chefs, do the cooking.
The restaurant's defining feature is its ever-changing menu, which depends on which grandmother is in the kitchen that day. Guests can enjoy authentic homemade dishes from Italy, Greece, Japan, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Ukraine, and many other countries.
Every recipe has been passed down through generations and is prepared just as it has been in family kitchens for decades.

Iris (Norway)
Iris is a one-of-a-kind restaurant located in Hardangerfjord, near the town of Rosendal in Norway. It is housed inside Salmon Eye, the world's largest floating art installation, designed to resemble the eye of a salmon.
The structure serves not only as a restaurant but also as an educational center dedicated to sustainable fishing and aquaculture. The venue is accessible only by boat, making the journey itself an integral part of the experience.
The evening begins onshore before guests board an electric boat to visit the chef's small waterside house, where they are introduced to the region's nature and culture. Only then are they taken to Salmon Eye, where a multi-course tasting menu featuring the chef's signature creations awaits.
