Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee visited Gaza on Friday, amid international concern over the aid distribution system, according to The Times of Israel.

On social media platform X, Witkoff wrote that he spent five hours in Gaza on Friday, gathering facts on the ground and assessing the situation. He also met with the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF).

"The purpose of the visit was to give US President Donald Trump a clear understanding of the humanitarian situation and help craft a plan to deliver food and medical aid to the people of Gaza," the post stated.

For his part, Huckabee, who accompanied Witkoff during the visit to Gaza, called the joint initiative supported by the US and Israel an incredible feat.

Sharing photos on social media, Huckabee stated that the two American officials arrived in Gaza to learn the truth about the aid distribution points operated by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF).

"We received briefings from [the IDF] and spoke to folks on the ground. GHF delivers more than one million meals a day, an incredible feat!" Huckabee wrote.

The Times of Israel emphasized that earlier media reports mentioned civilian deaths near aid distribution points due to IDF gunfire.

Huckabee also explained why the Hamas group doesn’t like the Gaza Humanitarian Fund.

“Hamas hates GHF [because] it gets food to [people without] it being looted by Hamas. Over 100 MILLION meals served in 2 months,” Huckabee wrote.

It is also reported that after his trip to Gaza, Witkoff spoke with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

For his part, Trump told Axios on Friday that he is working on a plan to feed the people in Gaza.

“We want to help people. We want to help them live. It is something that should have happened a long time ago,” Trump said.

However, he declined to provide details about the new humanitarian plan, which, according to him, the White House will announce soon.

It is currently unclear whether this will simply mean an expansion of GHF or the creation of an entirely new mechanism.
