A dialogue between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is necessary to bring the war in Ukraine to an end.

The statement was made by US Vice President JD Vance, according to his interview with Fox News.

During the interview, Vance noted that he had heard many people criticize Trump for speaking with Putin. He then explained the reasoning behind such conversations.

"You don’t have to agree with Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine. But if you want to bring about peace, you’ve got to be strong. We also have to talk to people. You’ve got to engage in aggressive, active diplomacy," he said.

The US vice president also suggested that Trump’s doctrine is built on maintaining a strong military while pursuing peace.

"His doctrine is to have the strongest military in the world, focus on peace, and not let journalists in Washington tell you who you’re allowed to talk to or how you should conduct diplomacy," Vance concluded.
