White House confirms Biden's meeting with Scholz, sets date
The United States has confirmed a meeting between U.S. President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The visit will take place in early February, according to the White House.
"President Biden will welcome German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to the White House on February 9," the White House said in a statement.
During the meeting, they are scheduled to discuss efforts to prevent regional escalation in the Middle East, their unwavering support for Israel's right to self-defense, and the need to increase vital aid and protect civilians in Gaza from harm.
In addition, President Biden and the German Chancellor will also coordinate their actions ahead of the NATO summit in Washington.
Scholz's visit to the United States
The German Chancellor will travel to Washington in the first half of February to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden.
The leaders will discuss, among other things, further assistance to Ukraine.
