The White House inquired with Ukrainian officials whether President Volodymyr Zelenskyy would wear a suit at Monday’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in the Oval Office, Axios reports.

As Axios reports, this time Zelenskyy will come in a black jacket, which he wore at the NATO summit in the Netherlands in June.

According to the information, he will not wear a tie. US officials positively assess this choice, noting that it creates a more businesslike and neutral image for negotiations.

Trump’s advisers joke that a suit and tie "would be a good sign for peace," but do not expect this from Zelenskyy.

The previous meeting turned into a diplomatic quarrel. Trump did not like Zelenskyy’s military clothing, and he sarcastically commented on his appearance.

American officials noted that the clothing partly contributed to the unsuccessful result of the conversation.

Last time, American officials were more irritated not so much by the clothing as by the alleged behavior of the Ukrainian leader during the presentation of documentary photos from the war.

Sources emphasize that the summit on Monday will take place in a “completely different atmosphere.”

"They've traveled very, very far, both of them. Zelenskyy will not show him pictures of dead children and then act like it's somehow his fault. The president has learned to just sort of like, you know, file away any irritations and go forward," a source of the publication said.

Quarrel between Trump and Zelenskyy

Previously, on February 28, Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the White House, where he met with US President Donald Trump. During the conversation in the Oval Office in front of journalists, a verbal quarrel flared up between Zelenskyy, Trump, and US Vice President JD Vance.

The quarrel concerned the war and Ukraine’s alleged ingratitude for the assistance provided. The media also wrote that supposedly Trump did not like that Zelenskyy did not wear a suit, as is customary.
