West mulls easing Russia sanctions if Moscow agrees to 15-day truce, reports say

Ukraine's allies are considering easing sanctions if Russia agrees to a complete ceasefire, reports Sky News.
Unnamed sources said that it is a gradual easing of restrictions against Russia.
According to Sky News' sources, Ukraine's allies hope for an immediate 15-day ceasefire. During this period, sanctions will still be in place before a more structured pause in the fighting in Ukraine.
They pointed out that in case of a violation of the ceasefire from the Russian side, the sanctions would come into effect again.
Other sources in the Italian government said that they would insist that US President Donald Trump involve Europe in his talks with Vladimir Putin on Ukraine during today's videoconference.
"He's (Trump - ed.) been asking European countries to invest more on military spending, so we must be involved in these decisions," the Italian diplomat said.
Italy will also emphasize the need for clear military, economic, and political guarantees for Ukraine, Sky News sources added.
Rumors about lifting sanctions
In the spring, Western media reported that the US government was considering easing sanctions against Russia. Particularly, restrictions on the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline would be lifted.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, responding to such allegations, emphasized that these are false rumors.
