Former undisputed world champion Oleksandr Usyk has decided on his opponent for his next fight. The Ukrainian boxer will face American knockout artist Deontay Wilder in the ring, reports Ring Magazine.

Date, location, and details

According to Usyk’s team director, Serhii Lapin, the potential fight is scheduled to take place in the United States in March 2027.

The 40-year-old Deontay Wilder is a former WBC heavyweight champion (2015–2020) and has successfully defended his title 10 times. The American knockout artist is known for a record-breaking streak of 32 consecutive knockout victories since the start of his career, although he has won only five of his last 10 fights.

Background

In May, during a boxing event in Giza, Egypt, Oleksandr Usyk defended his WBC title in a bout against kickboxing star Rico Verhoeven, stopping his opponent by technical knockout one second before the final bell in the 11th round.

Later, in late June, the 39-year-old Ukrainian relinquished his IBF, WBC, and WBA championship belts to allow younger boxers to compete for the titles.

This decision also allowed the Ukrainian star to have more freedom in choosing his opponent.
