US urges Iran and Israel not to escalate conflict
The US has made it clear to both Iran and Israel that there is a consensus in the Middle East that the current conflict should not escalate further, states Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
He emphasized that no one should escalate the conflict, and this message has been conveyed to both sides.
"We’ve been engaged in intense diplomacy with allies and partners, communicating that message directly to Iran. We communicated that message directly to Israel,” Blinken said.
Following a meeting with US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Australian counterparts, the Secretary of State also stated that negotiations to reach a ceasefire agreement and secure the release of hostages in the Gaza conflict have reached their final stage.
The US has deployed F/A-18 fighter jets to a military base in the Middle East as part of efforts to bolster Israel’s defense against a potential Iranian attack.
Additionally, the Pentagon announced that the US is increasing its military presence in the Middle East to de-escalate the regional conflict.
Previously, it was reported on the nature of the conflict between Iran and Israel and whether a major war might erupt in the Middle East.
