US State Department approves $310 million F-16 support package for Ukraine

On Friday, the US State Department approved a $310 million package for training and support of F-16 fighter jets for Ukraine, according to a post by the department on the social media platform X.
"The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine of F-16 Training and Sustainment and related equipment for an estimated cost of $310.5 million," the publication states.
The Defense Security Cooperation Agency sent a relevant notification to the US Congress.
According to the State Department, the Ukrainian government has requested the purchase of equipment and services to support its F-16 aircraft. The procurement will cover non-defense items, including:

Modifications and upgrades of the aircraft;

Training of personnel for operation, maintenance, and support;

Spare parts, consumables, and accessories, as well as repair and return services;

Ground equipment for servicing;

Provision and support of classified and unclassified software;

Classified and unclassified publications and technical documentation;

Research and surveys;
-
Engineering, technical, and logistical support from the US government and contractors;

Additional logistical and programmatic support elements.
"This proposed sale will support the foreign policy goals and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe," the statement concludes.
