A major traffic accident occurred on Monday, January 19, in Michigan: over 100 vehicles collided or went off the highway due to heavy snowfall, according to the Associated Press.

Authorities report numerous injuries, but no fatalities have been recorded.

Due to the massive traffic jam, state police closed both directions of the interstate.

Rescue teams worked on-site to clear roads and evacuate more than 30 semi-trucks.

The crash was caused by a powerful winter storm affecting large parts of the country. The National Weather Service has issued hazardous weather warnings, including extreme cold and winter storms, for several states - from northern Minnesota to Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.

Heavy snowfall and slippery roads have already caused numerous accidents in the region, putting drivers’ safety at risk and slowing traffic on major highways.

Meteorologists warn that the storm will continue moving southeast across the country and advise drivers to avoid travel if possible.

Major traffic accidents in Kyiv

On the morning of January 7, Kyiv saw a major accident involving 13 cars on Dniprovodska Street. Preliminary reports indicate that slippery roads due to ice were the main cause of the crash.
