The US will send additional aerial refueling aircraft to Israel amid the escalating conflict with Iran. This will happen despite recent misunderstandings between the countries regarding the conduct of the war, reports Reuters.

Transfer of aircraft

According to a senior Israeli military official, the US is preparing to deploy additional refueling aircraft to Israel. They will supplement the US aircraft already in the country following the resumption of hostilities at the end of February.

As Reuters notes, the administration of US President Donald Trump has informed Israel of plans to deploy dozens of such aircraft amid the risk of further escalation of the war with Iran. Axios also previously reported this.

Where the aircraft will be stationed

To minimize the impact on civilian aviation, some American aircraft are planned to be stationed at Israeli Air Force bases, rather than solely at Ben Gurion International Airport.

Previously, the significant presence of US military aviation reduced its civilian traffic by about 70%. As of the end of June, there were already 98 US military aircraft in Israel.

The transfer of additional aircraft comes amid a sharp escalation in the confrontation between the US and Iran following the breakdown of the temporary ceasefire.

As is known, both sides have been exchanging strikes in recent days, heightening fears that the conflict could turn into an all-out war.
