As of today, the main task for the Ukrainian army is to halt the Russian offensive in the Kharkiv region, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference following the Peace Summit in Switzerland.

"If I'm honest, our task today is to prevent the success of the Russian Federation in their offensive operation in the Kharkiv region," he said.
At the same time, he mentioned that he would not discuss plans for the coming year.

"I believe today's situation is better and has stabilized thanks to our warriors. I think in the near future, thanks to our partners, our warriors will be strengthened, and there will be stronger responses from the invaders on the battlefield," Zelenskyy added.

Russian army began its offensive in the Kharkiv region on May 10 and captured several villages and part of the city of Vovchansk. On June 8, Russia paused its attacks on the Kharkiv front. Currently, Ukrainian forces are conducting counterattacks in the region.

According to a survey by the Sociological Group Rating, most Ukrainians (51%) believe that Ukraine should fight until all territories are liberated from the 1991 borders. Another 12% said the fight should continue until the territories lost since February 2022 are reclaimed.
Additionally, 8% said that Ukraine should defend its positions and focus on exhausting Russia without going on the offensive, while 26% believe a compromise should be sought to end the war through negotiations.
