The Ukrainian military has denied information from the Russian Ministry of Defense about the alleged capture of two settlements near Lyman in the Donetsk region. These are the villages of Stavky and Novoselivka, according to the Third Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“The command of the 20th Army and the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the alleged capture of the settlements of Stavky and Novoselivka in the area of responsibility of the 60th Mechanized Brigade of the Third Army Corps,” the military wrote.

The defenders called this information manipulation.

Russia is using an old tactic: infiltrating separate groups into areas of villages not under its control in order to shoot staged videos with the tricolor flag, simulate control, and pass off losses as successes.

“Each of these groups is systematically destroyed by Ukrainian units. But the commanders of the Russian Federation's 20th Army continue to report on fictitious achievements to satisfy their higher command,” they emphasized.

Commander of the 60th Mechanized Brigade Dmytro Rohozuk confirmed that the situation in the area is under control.

“The 60th Separate Mechanized Inhulets Brigade, together with adjacent units, continues to firmly hold the occupied lines in the Donetsk region. There are no grounds for claiming the capture of the settlements of Stavky and Novoselivka!” the brigade commander noted.

Situation in the Lyman direction

In November, Russian troops intensified their offensive in the Lyman direction. Large groups of infantry are trying to break through Ukrainian defenses, infiltrate the settlement, and reach the railway station. The Russians are also using armored vehicles.

Ukrainian forces are holding back the attacks.

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi confirmed that the situation on the front line remains difficult. The most intense fighting is taking place in the areas of seven settlements, including Lyman.

In today's morning report, the General Staff reported that over the past day, the enemy attacked 11 times in the Lyman direction, trying to break through Ukrainian defenses in the areas of the settlements of Tverdokhlibove, Novoiehorivka, Torske, Novoselivka, Zarichne, and in the direction of Cherneshchyna and Korovii Yar.
