Ukrainian intel wipes out Russian Guard colonel leading elite Avangard unit

Ukrainian intelligence (HUR) eliminated a Rosgvardiya lieutenant colonel and two other Russians near the settlement of Tambukan in the Stavropol region.
According to the HUR, the operation was carried out on September 27, 2025. With the support of the Caucasus liberation movement, three Rosgvardiya members were eliminated on Russian territory.
“A Rosgvardiya lieutenant colonel, who headed the enemy special unit group Avangard, as well as the assistant and driver of the ruscist leader, were destroyed. The group of Muscovites was moving to a training ground, but never made it,” the HUR reported.
What is known about Avangard
The (17th) Separate Special Unit Avangard is a Russian special-purpose unit within the Rosgvardiya, formed in 1998 on the basis of the Edelweiss units and located near Mineralnye Vody (Novoterskiy).
Earlier, Ukraine's intelligence carried out a revenge special operation on Russian territory and eliminated Russians who committed war crimes in Ukraine.
According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the HUR special operation took place in the area of the settlement of Schitovaya in Primorsky Krai, where the 47th Separate Air Assault Battalion of the 155th Separate Guards Marine Brigade is stationed.
This unit took part in combat near Kyiv, Vuhledar, Mariupol, and in the Kursk and Pokrovsk directions.
