Ukrainian Air Defense Forces shot down all Russian drones launched overnight
Last night, the Russian occupiers used more than 20 Shahed drones for another attack on Ukraine. All the Russian kamikaze drones were destroyed by the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces, according to Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, the Commander of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the night of May 22, 2024, Russia attacked the territory of Ukraine with 24 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs, which were launched from the areas of Primorsko-Akhtarsk and Kursk (Russia), as well as from the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

Combat operations to repel the Russian air attack took place in six regions. Thus, Russian UAVs were destroyed within:
- Mykolaiv
- Dnipropetrovsk
- Zaporizhzhia
- Donetsk
- Luhansk
- Odesa regions.
Oleshchuk specifies that mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, electronic warfare units, anti-aircraft missile units, and fighter aircraft of the Air Force were involved in repelling Russian attacks.
"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, the Ukrainian Defense Forces shot down all 24 Shaheds," the general says.
Sumy Regional Military Administration reported in the morning that the Air Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine eliminated 7 enemy Shahed UAVs in the sky over the region at night.
Ukrainian Navy says that in the Mykolaiv region, 4 Russian Shahed attack UAVs were destroyed by the forces and means of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

On the evening of May 21, Russian troops launched Shahed-type kamikaze drones across Ukraine, and an air alert was declared in several regions.
Around midnight, Russian UAVs were heading toward Konotop and Shostka, Sumy region, where explosions were heard. In addition, it was reported that an explosion occurred in the Poltava region during an air raid.
Later, the Sumy Regional Military Administration said that the Russians had attacked energy facilities in Konotop and Shostka, Sumy region, with Shaheds. The attack resulted in a power outage in the settlements.
