Ukrainian air defense destroys dozens of Russian drones, Kinzhal missiles and more
During the Russian massive shelling of Ukraine on April 11, Russian troops used more than 80 drones and missiles, including Kinzhals. The main drone strike was launched on the Lviv region, according to the commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Mykola Oleshchuk.
"On the night of April 11, 2024, the Russian invaders launched a combined strike with missiles of various types and attack UAVs. The main direction was Lviv region," he says.
In total, he said, Russia launched 82 means of air attack:
- 20 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles from Tu-95 MS strategic aviation aircraft (launch area - Saratov region of the Russian Federation);
- 6 Kh-47M2 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles from MiG-31K fighters (launch area - Tambov region of the Russian Federation);
- 12 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles (launched from the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation);
- 40 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs (from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region of the Russian Federation, Chauda - Crimea).
- 4 Kh-59 guided missiles (from the airspace of the occupied Zaporizhzhia region).
Russian targets destroyed by Ukrainian air defense
Fighter aircraft and anti-aircraft missile troops of the Ukrainian Air Force, mobile fire groups, and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces were involved in repelling the Russian air attack.
As a result of the air battle, 57 Russian air targets were destroyed:
- 16 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles;
- 39 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs
- 2 Kh-59 guided missiles.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
On April 11, the Russian occupiers launched a massive air strike on Ukraine, using both drones and missiles, to attack critical Ukrainian energy infrastructure in four regions. Explosions were heard, in particular, in Kharkiv and Lviv, and an infrastructure facility was damaged in the Kyiv region.
On the evening of April 10, the Russians once again attacked Ukraine on a large scale with Shahed drones. The drones attacked the southern, central, and western regions.
