Ukraine under massive attack: 400 targets launched, cruise missiles intercepted

On the night of February 17, Russian troops launched 29 missiles of various types and 396 drones at Ukraine. The Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine recorded hits by 4 ballistic missiles and 18 drones.

According to the military, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, using various types of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. The enemy used:
- 4 Iskander-M ballistic missiles – from Russia’s Rostov region and temporarily occupied Crimea;
- 20 Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles – from the waters of the Caspian Sea;
- 4 Iskander-K cruise missiles – from Russia’s Kursk region;
- 1 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile – from the airspace of the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region;
- 396 Shahed-type strike UAVs, Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones – from the directions of Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Shatalovo (Russia) and from temporarily occupied Crimea.
About 250 of the launched drones were Shaheds.
How many targets air defense destroyed
The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, unmanned systems units and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
According to preliminary data as of 09:30 am Kyiv time, air defense forces shot down or suppressed 392 aerial targets:
- 20 Kh-101 cruise missiles;
- 4 Iskander-K cruise missiles;
- 1 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missile;
- 367 strike UAVs of various types.
Hits and falling debris
Hits by four ballistic missiles and 18 strike UAVs were recorded at 13 locations.
Falling debris from downed targets was also recorded at eight locations.
The Air Force noted that the attack is ongoing – several drones remain in the airspace.
The Russian army carried out another massive attack on Ukraine’s infrastructure overnight, using strike drones, strategic aviation and cruise missiles. Several regions came under attack.
