Ukraine strikes major Gazprom refinery deep inside Russia - General Staff

Overnight on August 13, Ukraine's Defense Forces struck the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat oil refining complex in the city of Salavat, Republic of Bashkortostan, according to the Ukrainian General Staff and the Unmanned Systems Forces.
The refinery was struck by operators from the 1st Separate Center of the Unmanned Systems Forces, together with other components of Ukraine's Defense Forces. A fire was reported at the facility.
The site is located approximately 1,300 kilometers from Ukraine's state border.
Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat is one of Russia's largest oil refining and petrochemical complexes.
Its hydrocarbon processing capacity is up to 10 million metric tons per year. The facility produces automotive gasoline, diesel fuel, fuel oil, bitumen, polyethylene and other petroleum products and polymers. It is involved in supplying Russia's occupation forces.
Attack on the refinery in Bashkortostan
Earlier, reports circulated online that drones had attacked the Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat refinery in the city of Salavat, in the Republic of Bashkortostan.
A fire broke out at the site of the strike. Local authorities, meanwhile, said drone debris had fallen in the area.
The plant has been targeted by drones several times before, including in September 2025 and on July 14, 2026, when a fire broke out after the strike and oil refining operations were halted.
